Withdraw the Energy
Dear Meditator,
During my visit to a small Ohio town my host told me, “Recently the Ku Klux Klan (a white supremist group) planned to march in our downtown area. When people heard this,” she said, “they were extremely upset. Many of our citizens and community organizations wanted to protest their march.”
Then a man in the town proposed a better response:
“Instead of protesting the Ku Klux Klan march and giving them the publicity they desire,” he suggested, “let’s have a ‘Celebration of Community’ day at our park; with everyone at the park, there’ll be no one to watch the Klan’s parade. They’ll be completely ignored.”
This is what happened. On the day of the march, the townspeople gathered at the local park to celebrate their appreciation and love for one another and their many religious faiths and ethnic groups. Meanwhile, seven Ku Klux Klan members—in white, hooded robes—marched through the vacated downtown area, completely ignored, except for one policeman designated to watch them. The marchers soon gave up and went home.
Like the townspeople, who withdrew their focus from the Ku Klux Klan, meditation withdraws our energy from lower realities and lifts our consciousness toward higher, more expansive ones. The solution to all our problems lies in higher consciousness; not in relating to problems from their own level.
Meditation is the supreme tool for redirecting our energy upwards to the superconsciousness. Yoga says, “Be a cause not an effect.” Meditate every day and you will begin to change your destiny and the world around you.
May the peace of your soul always guide and inspire you.

In Divine Joy,
Bharat Cornell
