The Daily
Meditator: January 2004
How the Guru Helps Us
"The sheer breadth of Yogananda's vision, and its practical
relevance to the needs of this age, demonstrate him to be a
World Teacher. For he was not only the guru of a particular
group of disciples, but was sent to be the way-shower for a
new age." Swami
Kriyananda |
Dear Meditator,
The theme for
this month's Daily Meditator is "How the Guru Helps
Us Grow Spiritually." Paramhansa Yogananda often reminded his
disciples, "You are not connected with a mere organization,
but with the divine power flowing through a line of Self-realized
masters." It is this powermore than anything elsethat
transforms and allows us to progress quickly on the path.
The first article,
Why a Guru?, tells how the guru's magnetic influence raises
our consciousness; the second article, The Spiritual Power of
Yogananda, explains why Yogananda, as an avatar, has the ability
to help thousands find God; the next two articles, Paramhansa Yogananda:
Seeing God in Everyone and God Protects His Devotees,
are excerpts from two chapters of Swami Kriyananda's book, The
Path. Reading these stories of Yogananda will give you an appreciation
for the great respect a true guru has for people and how those attuned
to him are protected.
Yogananda said
we receive magnetism from spiritual people when we feel them with
us as we meditate and pray. This practice brings their magnetism
immediately to us and greatly reinforces our efforts. The last article,
The Guru: How God Guides the Devotee, tells us how we can
invite the presence and power of the saints into our meditation
practice.
If you would
like to deepen your relationship with Paramhansa Yogananda and receive
information on how to become a disciple of this great master, please

In this issue:
May the Great
Ones bless and guide your efforts!
